We are a group of parents, teachers, administrators, alumni, and students working together to support One World Project, our beloved school.
One World Project was born in 2012 with the aim of promoting cultural understanding and environmental sustainability through meaningful multilingual community, after school, camp, and early childhood education programs. OWP’s Spanish-immersion program started with eight children in our Director Joanne’s home and has since grown to serve more than 200 families annually. A labor of love, OWP has become a child-centered school dedicated to play and a community center informed by the rights and responsibilities associated with living in an interconnected, global world of immense diversity. It is also a reaction to the most problematic issues of today’s world – hate, fear, and arrogance and a belief that the best way to tackle these issues is by planting seeds of empathy, collaborative problem solving, and community action.
Please join us in supporting One World Project by giving to our efforts to participate in the Brooklyn Spring Half, 10K, 5K; La Vuelta and/or the Brooklyn Half Marathon.
Please donate whatever you can. Any amount is deeply appreciated. No donation is too small or too big.
On Saturday, March 15 we’ll be running or walking the Brooklyn Spring Half, 10K, 5K a wonderful event that will allow all our team to pick the race that is best for them.
Friday, April 25 is La Vuelta. We’ll gather at One World Project and the kids (and some grownups) will run or walk or scoot along Vanderbilt, down East 4th, up, along Greenwood Avenue, and up East 3rd. We’ll end the race with a party with upcycled medals for all participants. In Spanish, la vuelta means loop, like the one we’ll do around the block. Vuelta also means return. If your children have grown and you are no longer part of our preschool or after school program please consider La Vuelta an invitation to return to OWP for a visit. We would love to see you!
On Sunday, April 27 we will join half marathoners for NYC Runs, an epic running journey.
With love and care we have built a nurturing school and community center committed to learning. We want to sustain what makes OWP so special and grow our community fund so that OWP is accessible to more families. Together we’ll be working to raise $60,000 to support OWP.
We truly appreciate anything you are able to give.
